Meet the Member - Peabody TV

Camille Bartlett, Peabody TV

Peabody TV is the community media center for the City of Peabody. We teach, produce, create and inspire all ages, drawing members from across the North Shore. Our mission is to stimulate cultural, artistic, and political expression in a free and open setting.

What part of your job would you consider creative, and why do you enjoy that part of what you do?

Everything we do involves some degree of creativity- production, graphic design, photography and podcasting to name a few. The payoff is that we get to create content that means something to somebody, and might even make a difference.

How does your creative work contribute to the growth and stability of the Creative Economy?

Peabody's cultural community isn't as well known as some of our neighbors- yet. But Peabody TV is doing its part to change that. We frequently partner with the City of Peabody and with organizations like Northeast Arc, the Peabody Chamber of Commerce, Peabody Main Streets and the Peabody Institute Library to spotlight cultural activities. And it is working because foot traffic to downtown events is increasing.

What’s your favorite part of running/managing a local business?

I grew up in Peabody, as did the majority of my staff, and I think that makes us unique. Not to mention that no place else brings you gavel-to-gavel coverage of government meetings, or high school sports, candidate forums, concerts, and public affairs programming. Nowhere else can you consume content specifically produced by and for Peabody residents.

What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you our your business?

Our Office Manager, Natalie Maga, was Peabody's first female City Clerk. The relationships Natalie developed over the years have proved invaluable to Peabody TV.
