Tell us a bit about you and what you do?

My name is Maggie and I am the owner of Green Tea Yoga. I have been teaching yoga on the north shore for the past 12 years. I teach a variety of classes including, Vinyasa yoga, Yin yoga, restorative yoga, and kids yoga. I am privileged to be surrounded by beautiful, inspiring, and like-minded people. I recently received a certification in polarity Therapy where I am able to use this modality and my background in Occupational Therapy to help better a persons well being and health. In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors, salsa dancing and painting. I am lucky to share my passion with so many people and I am honored to be a part of this amazing group.

What part of your job would you consider creative, and why do you enjoy that part of what you do?

My job allows me space and independence to be creative in so many ways. I am able to create a variety of classes and workshops for all sorts of populations. I also am able to use my creative skills when marketing some of these fun and unique events. I enjoy tapping into my creativity when coming up with fundraisers to help support amazing causes and philanthropic pursuits. This job is unique in that I can pretty much create whatever feels good for the community.

Why do you feel a healthy creative economy is important to a successful community?

Creativity in any form helps to enhance individuals uniqueness. In yoga, it helps to benefit the community I that the students are involved in a creative yoga flow to better their health.

What’s your favorite part of running/managing a local business?

My favorite part of running Green Tea Yoga is the community itself. I have really enjoyed meeting so many different types of people on the north shore. I am thankful for the wonderful people in this community. It makes me happy when students leave classes feeling calm, grounded and stress-free. When I see changes over time with their physical bodies, mental bodies and spiritual bodies, I appreciate their devotion, strength, and discipline.

What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you or your business?

This is a funny question. That I never had any business background or education in business. Although, maybe people wouldn't be so surprised. Lol
