In your words... Tell us about your organization, business, initiative.

Miranda’s Hearth is an approachable creative community that provides community programming and creative infrastructure to help reconnect art to daily life. Since July 2013, the organization has grown organically through community involvement, starting on a sweltering summer afternoon with a four person jam session in a second-story apartment and growing to a 501(c)3 non-profit that has served 25,000 people.

Currently, Miranda's Hearth is putting together a proposal to repurpose Briscoe Middle School in Beverly, MA as an artist community center.

Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do? Share your passions for your business, initiative, organization.

My personal mission is to reconnect art to daily life. I pursue this goal through my own interdisciplinary artistic practices as well as through my work as a community organizer. I'm passionate about helping people reconnect with their innate creativity and using that creativity as a catalyst for community building.

What role do you think your business plays in supporting a more creative community? OR your community in general. (Bonus! Why do you think a more creative community is important?)

Our mission is to build a community through creativity that is approachable, affordable, and accessible. Engaging in creativity together is one of the oldest, most effective forms of community building. By making things together, we engage in the shared experiences upon which all relationships are built.

What was the last book you read OR What was the last video you watched that made an impact on you?

I just finished Becoming by Michelle Obama and it was an amazing source of inspiration!

What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you our your business?

Fun Business Fact: We built a tiny house as a public art project and filled it with art from over 100 different people.

Fun Personal Fact: I skipped high school and started college at fourteen.
