In your words... Tell us about your organization, business, initiative.
The Wandering Stage is a 20 foot trailer that fully transform into a full stage at the push of a button. We will travel with wireless LED lighting and a sound system that can be plugged in or run off generators! The stage even features a backstage area with two dressing rooms! The Wandering Stage is easy to book, professional, one stop shop for all outdoor events. Here is a small, 40 second, animation to show how the stage functions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TgvLW4ITic
Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do? Share your passions for your business, initiative, organization.
As I worked on different arts boards I saw first hand the major challenges that all the arts are facing. Public arts funding is disappearing at the state and federal level. The costs of maintaining a brick and mortar performance spaces are high, especially seeing as they are only in use a small part of the week. These spaces have to pass that cost to the companies that rent them and in turn the arts companies have to charge high ticket prices which denies important cultural events to many citizens. It denies those with lower incomes the opportunity to engage in community events. The arts have always, and should always, be for the masses.
What role do you think your business plays in supporting a more creative community? OR your community in general. (Bonus! Why do you think a more creative community is important?)
Music, theater, poetry, and dance have the power to start important conversations as well as promote empathy, awareness, and understanding…. which I think we can all agree, we desperately need right now!
The Wandering Stage provides a venue that is outdoors and affordable without sacrificing any qualities a production may need such as lights, sound, and a backstage area.
What was the last book you read OR What was the last video you watched that made an impact on you?
The movie Chef was a major motivator for The Wandering Stage. It is about following passion instead of money and trusting that if you follow your passion and work extremely hard you will succeed.
What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you our your business?
I worked 6 years at The New England Pirate Museum. I like to tell people I was a professional Pirate throughout college.
