In your words... Tell us about your organization, business, initiative.
Coastal Design Studio offers DIY style creative workshops and classes for all ages. We focus on teaching how nature can be used to create beautiful designs! Our classes are offered as scheduled events or as private events (mobile or on site).
Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do? Share your passions for your business, initiative, organization.
I am a nature-loving artist with a degree in visual art education. Coastal Design Studio first started as a hobby and as a way for me to share the joys I find find when I create something! Now, Coastal has set roots in the beautiful and culturally rich town of Gloucester, Massachusetts where it is now a center for gathering and creating with an amazing community!
What role do you think your business plays in supporting a more creative community? OR your community in general. (Bonus! Why do you think a more creative community is important?)
A more creative community is what we are all about at Coastal Design Studio! My classes and workshops are specially designed so that everyone can create something beautiful - and functional! Coastal isn't just another art class that sends you home with a painting that will be thrown in a box in the attic... We want to connect connect community and creativity using elements found throughout our area. Creative communities are happy communities!
What was the last book you read that made an impact on you?
The last book I read was "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz. It was one of those books I loved so much that I reread about 4 times. It taught me how to turn away from self-limiting beliefs that rob me of joy. You can do anything!
What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you our your business?
Every sea glass themed project I host uses hand-picked sea glass I have collected since I was 13 years old!
