LeeAnn Rubin: Making Faces By LeeAnn Rubin & Dark Art By LeeAnn Rubin
In your words... Tell us about your organization, business, initiative.
I’m a SFX Makeup Artist for Film, Television & Events. I’m also a member of Salem Arts Association where I display a lot of my paintings.
Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do? Share your passions for your business, initiative, organization.
I find creating realistic sfx makeup exciting, challenging, fascinating and fun . I have a passion for painting realistic, dark & dramatic artworks on canvas as well. For me, dark art in any form is just more interesting and I believe an artist is obligated to share their unique vision & talents with the world. Even if it’s unconventional.
What role do you think your business plays in supporting a more creative community?
I think that any time you share your artwork with others, you are essentially opening yourself up to connect with them on some level. You are either connecting with them emotionally, provoking thought or inspiring them. Or all 3! That is how my business supports the creative community. And vice versa.
What was the last book you read that made an impact on you?
The Goldfinch By Donna Tartt Incredible writing. Her character description is unparalleled.
What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you our your business?
Because my art (& therefore persona) is so dark, they’d be surprised to learn what an upbeat, friendly person I am.
